As large as North Texas’ Preston Hollow hood is, still when two parties are taking place a block away, it can get too close for comfort. So, when the 2022 Crystal Charity Ball Underwriters Cocktail Party kicked off at Jennifer and David Lancashire’s homestead at 7 on Thursday, November 4, the curbless roads were already looking like a cozy parking lot.
But when Preston Hollow party #2 got underway, the bucolic lanes were looking like a high-roller parking lot with space being lean.
As for the CCB guests like Jennifer and Scott Chandler, Maura Young with Garry Weber, Libby Allred, Sara Lee Gardner, Susan and Michael Glassmoyer, Dianne and Mark LaRoe, and 2022 CCB First Husband John Farris‘ Mpact associates Raegan Arrington and Kim Tillinghast, they hardly noticed as they were greeted by the trio of 2022 CCB Chair Susan Farris, Underwriter Party Chair Di Johnston and Underwriter Chair Kristina Whitcomb, who once again had fashionable smarts for one last hiding of the leg brace that she’s had to bear since August. The good news was that the brace would be off just in time for the ball on Saturday, December 3, at the Anatole. Even then her footwear would not be stilettos for a while.
One of the favorite spots to have photos taken was in front of a gargantuan geode topped with an amazingly huge arrangement of orchids. Another eye catcher was the jewelry. With Diamonds Direct as the evening’s underwriter, some committee members like the greeting trio and Wendy Messmann became diamond delicious with gems around their necks and suspended from their lobes.
To add to the glittering gals was the cabana in the backyard, where Diamonds Direct had set up a pop-up shop just in time for the ball and Christmas gifts. Across the lawn was a bocce ball court. Plans had been to have an organized team play the Italian game, but when the team had to bow out, guests like Julie Ford, Al Allred and even cuisine queen Cassandra showed their talents rolling the balls. In between rolls of the bocce balls, CCB 2013 Co-Chairs Caren and Pete Kline reported that they were arranging their upcoming holiday plans around the birth of their first grandchild whose parents live in Colorado.
