As the minutes were ticking down to the Crystal Charity Ball’s Jewels of the Garden, the Dallas gem guys were in high cotton. Sure, the Dallas Cowboys were on TV playing the Bears, but that didn’t stop diamond lovers from checking with their favorite jewelers. Along Preston Road DeBoulle, Bachendorf and Diamond Doctor looked like The Container Store the day after Christmas. People were practically lining up to get in for the glittery goodies.

Over at NorthPark Eiseman Jewels was moving on to focusing on the February 7th Dallas Symphony Orchestra League Deb Presentation. The cocktail reception is a favorite annual holiday gathering because the debs are presented with a pair of pearl stud earrings. With 90 of the debs’ and honor guard members’ parents filling the jewelry store, Richard Eiseman was making the evening a family affair of his own with wife Betsy and daughter Reed.
Speaking of families, Event Co-Chair Marie Dean’s family had gone through a population explosion earlier in the day. In addition to attending the Crystal Charity Ball’s Tacky Christmas Sweater lunch at the Hilton Anatole, Marie became a grandmother.

For the gents, Richard had thought ahead. He had the television embedded in the window broadcasting the Cowboys game.
During commercial breaks, some of the guests moseyed over to the cases filled with Cartier, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Baume and Mercier and other sweet tickers. Who says dads can’t ask Santa for something nice?
Honorary Co-Chair Jolie Humphrey admitted that being a flame-haired type had its drawbacks. When it came to clothes, blue reds worked and so did deep purples. But forget those yellows, oranges and red oranges.
But as Jolie headed to the jewel-laden case, an eavesdropping passerby was heard to say, “But diamonds go with any color.”
